RIP my brother shane, you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family. Shane was a good friend and he always had a.great smile on his face. He was even nice enough to do airband with me.scot and monte. He was so nice to take the back role to us when he wanted to show off his own dance moves. I miss you my brother and I know you are in heaven looking down on us.

I was very sad when I heard the news of Shane passing.  His SMILE was the biggest and always made me smile!  I have great memories of Shane and hope his family is healing.  Rest In Peace Mr. Smith.

So sorry to hear about Shane. My....it certainly says something about you when every comment 30 years later talks about a "smile." I too cannot picture Shane with anything but a smile and perhaps a sheepish giggle like he also had an inner punchline running.  A truly friendly and generous soul. To Shane's family I send prayers and wish you healing.

Shane was one of the first friends I made upon moving to Madison in '82. Such a kind soul, he took me in to his family and circle of friends immediately. For that I am forever grateful. My sincerest condolences to his family. Rest in peace old friend. Celebrate Life!

Shane Smith - what a great person from such a wonderful family! His wonderful family was always so welcoming to his friends. His father, mother and sister were so positive, friendly and welcoming which Shane carried with him with his great personality and smile! Such fond memories of playing football behind Brennans in the grass field with Charlie, Ackerman, Kieta, Craig, Bernie & others. Thank you Shane and the Smith family for the great memories of growing up in such a great city with such great people-MadTown! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Wishing his wife, son, mother and sister only the best! His smile will always be there...

As Shane's Memorial Service Was today his loving wife Lashell, told me she was greatful for all of the love and stories we from JMM have shared with her. It is helping her get through during this very difficult time in her life. I know that his mother and Shawna also appreciate all the love that we all still felt for Shane. Please continue to share your memories with her. She is loving reading them. I hope some of these can be sent to her so that she knows how many of us loved Shane. Rest in Peace to one of my very FIRST Aquarian defensive soccer teammates (know wonder why Becky Craig Glaeser and I would just kick it with you back there on the defensive line). You are with your father now so I hope you are at peace. I will never forget carpooling to and from soccer, and kicking it on the battle field hill. Good bye for now. Save me a seat.

Shane was part of the Spring Harbor crew (even though he didn't arrive on the scene until after the school closed).  Shane and his family always opened his home to some great parties, going all the way back to circa 1984.  Shawna was always there, making everyone laugh, the stereo was playing the hits (now considered "classic rock", what??), boys and girls together, dancing to Careless Whisper, first kisses for many (you know who you are), and Shane's parents always making sure the parties went smoothly.  We all got older and the parties moved out of Shane's basement but the memories live on as will many more of Shane.
